L and S glutamine are the synonyms for the same product. S-glutamine is indicative of the structural optical rotation and L-glutamine is activity based rotation.
The S- stands for sinister which means left in latin.
If the product is biologically active it is the L-form and if it is biologically inactive it is the D-form. The cells are not able to use the D-form as an energy source. They can only use the L-form of glutamine.

Hi jignesh,
Is there a good web reference to this with good amino acid structures?
Thanks.
