I wondered if anyone could help with this...
Recent developments in scientific techniques have allowed for the exploration of subsurface environments. Most of the known genera of microbes have been found underground at many sites, and there appears to be a huge diversity of microbial life subsurface.
One of my colleagues told me that it is now generally considered that the majority of microbial life on the planet is subsurface. Is this the general concensus amongst the people on this forum? If so, why?
I just thought this was a fascinating idea.
I'd appreciate any insights.
Cheers
